At Regatta Great Outdoors, we encourage people to get outdoors and start new adventures. This August it is National Fishing Month, which provides the perfect opportunity to give fishing a go as a new activity. It allows us to relax in the great outdoors, find a space to unwind, to be in nature and have fun! It’s also a chance for families to spend time outside together, for friends to get competitive with each other and for people of all ages to build new relationships.
National Fishing Month is run by the Angling Trades Association, Angling Trust, Canal & River Trust and the Environment Agency; together they’re putting on hundreds of taster events across England. People of all ages and angling abilities are welcome, from those who have never picked up a rod, to others who want to try it again after a break. The best bit? Most of these sessions are completely free or very low cost. There will be plenty of friendly, professional experts on hand to take you through your paces on the day and you will be provided with full angling equipment and bait.
Once you’ve tried fishing once, you’re sure to be hooked and we will be following up with more useful information on how to get going with fishing once you’ve attended a taster session. This will include the equipment you need, where to go, why you need a fishing licence and how to get one.
If you already fish and you’re keen to get friends and family involved, you can also benefit from the ‘Take a Friend Fishing’ initiative that runs during National Fishing Month. Anglers that already hold a licence can register for a free one-day licence on the Take a Friend Fishing website and share their love for the sport.
Give fishing a go this National Fishing Month!
