Entrepreneur, actress, singer, presenter, mother of two; just some of the titles that Kimberley Walsh currently holds. However, she now has a new one, the face of Regatta! The beloved former Girls Aloud member has developed a new collection of jewel-toned jackets that combine her favourite colours with her passion for both fashion and the outdoors. Making time in her jam-packed yet exciting schedule, which includes a stint in the West End’s production of BIG The Musical and taking care of her adorable sons, we managed to have a sit down with the woman of the hour to discuss the clothing range, her personal style and her everyday life.
What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
At the moment my guilty pleasure would be any reality TV I can get my hands on. I just can’t help myself. It’s so fascinating to me. People watching just doesn’t get boring!
What would your superpower be?
My super power would have to be to turn into a transformer. My kids would think I’m the coolest mum alive!
Most embarrassing moment?
I don’t embarrass easily these days, although I did have a major fall leaving a gym class the other day because I was rushing to get back to pick the boys up. I was a sweaty mess and tripped over another woman’s weights and had the most epic fall. My knees were absolutely ruined.
What’s your goal for the year/something you want to accomplish?
I really want to enjoy every minute of being back on stage in BIG The Musical as it’s been such a long time since I was in the West End.
What are you most excited about right now?
Starting rehearsal for BIG - I love being in the rehearsal room and in that creative environment there’s nothing better. I can’t wait to unveil my new Regatta range too because it has been a long time in the making and I’ve loved every minute. Each and every piece is something I love to wear.
When’s the last time you felt out of your comfort zone?
I went on a mini break to Sardinia and tried my hand at a few water sports. I’m certainly not a natural that’s for sure.
What do you love most about your job?
I really love that I get to do so many different things that I enjoy and also be a hands-on mum. I feel very lucky that I’m able to have that balance.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?
I haven’t had much career advice but to be honest I just go with my instincts. I only ever do jobs and partnerships that feel totally right to me and never forced. I don’t feel like you can do a good job if your hearts not completely in it.
What’s the best style advice you’ve ever been given?
One of our stylists once said you should always dress for your shape never just follow fashion regardless. You will already feel good if something suits your body shape.
What’s your off-duty style?
My off-duty style is very simple and practical. It’s almost like a uniform that works for running around after the boys. Usually either work out gear with a comfy top over or high waisted jeans and a simple t-shirt.
What’s your favourite piece in your wardrobe right now – excluding Regatta?
My fave piece to wear at the moment it probably an oversized blazer. It’s so easy to throw on with jeans and I feel like I have one in every colour now!
What do you do to relax?
I love nothing more than a massage to relax but that doesn’t happen very often as it’s hard to find the time! I love being outdoors too – fresh air always recharges my batteries and lifts my mood.
What’s your favourite outdoor activity?
My favourite outdoor activity is walking. The boys love an adventure so we often go for walks in the woods and we do pretty long ones when the weather’s good. I used to hate it but since doing Kilimanjaro I’m a convert!
How would your perfect day begin and end?
It would start with a lie in which pretty much never happens and would end with my favourite box set and a glass of red wine.
Running or walking?
Walking for sure.
Does being outdoors improve your day/wellbeing?
It really does. The fresh air alone makes you feel better I think.
Favourite piece from the collection for:
A weekend away? I would have to be the Safiyya as it’s perfect to go from day to night!
The school run? The Andel jacket is fab for this as I usually try and go straight to the gym or a class and it works perfectly over work-out clothes.
For a hike/muddy walk? The Lexia parker because you feel totally ready for any weather conditions.
Overall favourite? The Metallia jacket because I’m in love with jewel tones at the moment and it’s super flattering!
