glamping in the beautiful countryside

The UK's Best Glamping Destinations

Fancy staying somewhere completely different this year?

With the Covid-19 lockdown coming to an end, it's highly likely that holiday makers will be flocking to many of the UK's camp sites as they're an effective way to enjoy a relaxing holiday (AKA, Staycation) whilst still remaining socially distant.

If you've tried caravans, traditional camping or cute little B&B's, glamping offers a new way to experience some of the natural gems hidden within the UK. It also means you don't have to sleep rough to experience a great outdoor holiday, so the kids (or your partner) won't moan about being uncomfortable. Here's a roundup of the best glamping destinations that we think you should check out!

UK Glamping Holidays You'll Love

There are a few different types of accommodation when it comes to glamping, so you'll have to choose the type that fits the purpose of your holiday as well as how many guests will be coming along (including dogs). Here are the most common types of glamping accommodation:

  • Yurts
  • Teepees
  • Safari Tents
  • Geodomes
  • Caravans
  • Treehouses

In some cases, glamping lacks a lot of the traditional camping experiences like building your own campfire, as many of the sites either don't allow guests to make fires or include a fire pit / log burner with the accommodation. A similar rule goes for fishing - if this is something you're planning on doing, it's worth checking with the hosts if the local lakes allow fishing before hand.

On the plus side, you don't have to lug around loads of camping equipment in a heavy rucksack nor will you have to pack up a tent, you can just load up your car with everything you need - some warm clothes and a waterproof jacket just in case.

Kudhva

Sanding Road, Trebarwith Strand, Tintagel, Cornwall PL34 0HH

The Kudhva glamping site is an Instagram-worthy way to relax by the North Cornwall coast. You'll stay in fascinating asymmetrical eco-friendly hideouts, serving as a wonderful getaway weekend in nature for those that live in high density areas like London. Each unit has a maximum capacity of two, however you also have the option to stay in a Danish cabin, which houses up to 6 guests and even features a private bar!

The raised-up hideouts are perfect for things like stargazing or admiring the nearby horizon, however you can still enjoy traditional camping experiences like relaxing around the campfire. Kudhva certainly is one of the most unique glamping destinations in the UK and is well-worth a visit.

Up Sticks Glamping

Brays Farm, Birts Street, Birtsmorton, Malvern, Worcestershire, WR13 6AP

Situated on a farm in the Malvern Hills, the Up Sticks Glamping site offers holiday makers a more luxurious option compared to other glamping sites. It's less of a rough-it camping getaway, and more of a fancy family experience. For those looking to stay somewhere different this year, Up Sticks is a real breath of fresh air - it's just as suitable for a short getaway with friends as it is for some family fun - it's also dog friendly, which is a huge bonus.

What sets Up Sticks apart from other glamping sites is the cosy interior design of the lodges and the amenities they come with, such as hot-tubs, fire pits and farm animals located a stone throw away.

Camp Katur is located in Northern Yorkshire, it's perfect for some peace and quiet in the countryside. The site is roughly 1-mile away from Carthorpe and Kirklington, so you can experience some of the local pubs and shops during your stay. Airhouses Rowan Pods

Airhouses, Oxton, Lauder, TD2 6PX, Scotland

Those looking for more of a short romantic getaway rather than a trip with the family will fall in love with the Rowan Pods up in Oxton, Scotland. There's an abundance of local wildlife, along with plenty of nearby walks to journey on. It's not quite the off-grid experience some people may yearn for with a glamping trip, but that means you'll have goodies such as a hot-tub (so don't forget to pack your swimwear!), underfloor heating and a TV. There's also a BBQ hut on-site, so you can cook your own hearty breakfasts or even toast some marshmallows!
