The All-New Holcombe III Walking Boot

Introducing the New Holcombe III Walking Footwear Range

The next generation of the Holcombe range has landed. Introducing: the Holcombe III.

Comfort, Performance & Protection were the core focus points for improvement when designing the new Holcombe, which sits firmly in the middle of our footwear hierarchy.

They're packed with technology designed for comfort, grip and stability on mixed terrain, including rocky paths, forest trails and low level hills.

Comfort

Comfort is key for walking footwear. Here's what you can expect in the new Holcombe III...

  • A padded collar and tongue.
  • A removable TECFOAM insole, which cushions and absorbs the energy from the heel as you walk.
  • A shock absorbing XLT foam EVA midsole.
  • Lightweight TPR (thermoplastic rubber) sole.

The combination of a soft EVA midsole, lightweight TPR soles and a TECFOAM insole all work to reduce foot fatigue through shock absorbtion and keeping the weight down.

Performance

For those longer hikes roaming the hills, performance is vital to keep you on the move and protected from the elements. Performance features include...

  • 2-way DUOGRIP tread for increased propulsion, making it easier to journey up and down terrain.
  • Hardwearing & robust lace system for greater foot hold.

The previous Holcombe was designed with the ghillie lacing system - that's the little fabric loops that your laces are fed through.

This time, we've opted for sleeker, metal hardwear to provide a more secure lacing system (and therefore, foothold) which plays an important role in preventing blisters when hiking.

Protection

Protection from the elements is the third and final upgrade for the Holcombe III. Protective features include...

  • Waterproof & breathable membrane to keep feet dry all day.
  • High cut collar protects & supports the ankle.
  • Mudguards support & protect the foot.
  • Covered vamps protect against loose debris.
Tecfoam Insoles - Greater Cushioning & Comfort, Prolongs endurance by staying thicker for longer.

Boots or Shoes: Which Holcombe III Is Right for You?

Stuck on choosing between boots or shoes? Check out our guide on walking boots vs walking shoes to learn which is right for you.

Browse the style: Holcombe Boots

The boot variant of the Holcombe III offers everything in one package. They're the most protective form of walking footwear as their taller construction covers the ankle, which helps defend against accidental knocks, scraping against rocks and bits of natural debris finding its way in to the boots.

Furthermore, the Holcombe III boot features a taller collar with softer padding compared to its predecessor, which provides extra protection to your ankles. Along with a padded tongue which makes for a more comfortable walk over long distances and uneven terrain.

Browse the style: Holcombe Shoes

The walking shoe variant of the Holcombe III is essentially the lightweight, more dextrous little brother of boots. They'll still offer similar benefits, such as DUOGRIP tread, EVA XLT midsoles and a reinforced heel and toe, but hikers who prefer more dexterity will prefer walking shoes over walking boots.

Walking shoes are best suited to shorter hikes on fairly even terrain, so if you find you typically walk along maintained pathways rather than off the beaten track, walking shoes are a better option for you than walking boots.

The Holcombe range will be perfectly fine when worn during the typical snow and lower temperatures the UK experiences.

However, they're not appropriate for use in thicker snow and more extreme, sub-zero temperatures in the likes of Alaska, for example.

Yes, the Holcombe range is true to size, so you won't need to size up or down.

No, neither the Holcombe boots or shoes can be washed in a washing machine.

The combination of detergent and hot water can break down the bondage of things such as glue, or hinder the waterproofing technology applied to the shoe. Furthermore, once you've cleaned them by hand, don't put them directly next to a radiator - let them dry naturally.
