Quality Outdoor Clothing Meets Maximalist Style
This season, Regatta Great Outdoors has collaborated with the Maison Christian Lacroix to create a
signature collection of stylish yet functional pieces for enjoying the outdoors this winter.
The range blends Regatta’s decades of expertise with Lacroix’s iconic prints and heritage to design
a collection across clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women.
We sat down with our product design team and our new friends at Maison Christian Lacroix to learn more about how this collection came to be...
Q. What inspired the collaboration between Regatta Great Outdoors and Christian Lacroix?
A. We wanted to introduce an elevated, premium outdoor capsule and the beautiful prints from the Maison Christian Lacroix helped give this collection a luxe feel. We wanted the pieces to be functional for outdoors but with a fashion influence.
Q. How did the two brands work together to create the prints and key pieces in the collection?
A. We had an initial brainstorm design meeting in the Maison Christian Lacroix headquarters in Paris where we collaborated on prints to use and worked on initial concepts for the range, based on some of the Lacroix haute couture pieces from the archives! After, we worked together over many months to refine the pieces and decide on the branding package such as the red trim highlights, chevron taping and butterfly and beetle signatures.
Q. Can you tell us more about the Beetle and Butterfly signatures?
A. The beetle signature and the butterfly has been a key symbol of the Maison Christian Lacroix across many of their past collections. We decided to highlight these icons as they are a key part of Lacroix brand heritage and have these as the branding package across the pieces appearing on hood prints and the woven arm badges.
Q. How do you envisage people adding this into their everyday wardrobe?
A. There are pieces for every occasion, wet weather days, crisp cold wintery days and for mild winter days layer up the hoodies/sweats and bodywarmers. The pieces bring a high fashion nod to outdoor garments with their bold prints and premium fabrics.
Q. What’s your favourite piece from the collection and why?
A. For Mens the ‘Ramatuelle’ shell jacket. It features Isotex 10,000 stretch fabric so is a fully functional waterproof
shell, the shape is inspired by the shacket trend, with a boxy shape and smart collar, with the addition of
a cleverly designed hidden hood which is stored inside the jacket lining.
For Womens the ‘Bernis’ jacket. This is a fit and flare jacket, perfect for rainy days. We have
worked on an exclusive style with split hood detail which reveals red highlights inside when it's open.
A jacket that is even more unique when combined with the exclusive prints of the Maison Christian Lacroix.
