L’Equipe Paris 10km

On Sunday 23rd June 2013 a small
team of enthusiastic (and less than enthusiastic) athletes from Welcome to
Yorkshire headed to France to take part in the 3rd Annual L’Equipe
10km race through the streets of Paris. We were running as the Le Tour
Yorkshire team that was celebrating the fact that the Grand Départ of the Tour
de France would be visiting Yorkshire for the first time in 2014.

With a varying level of running ability
throughout the team, there was a mixture of excitement, anticipation and fear
in the team line up as we headed to the start line. There was one thing however
that all the members of the team shared and that was our swish, impressive
running tops.

The tops, provided by our friends over at
Regatta Clothing, were black Elixir T-shirts, made from lightweight Carbon
Bamboo fabric. They not only looked the part but were perfect for active
outdoor use. There were various reasons for this, including the fact that the
tops have an exceptional wicking performance – so they take any moisture away
from body – which was particularly beneficial when it started to rain towards
the end of the race. This helped to keep us all dry and comfortable throughout
the race.

The design and colour clearly identified us
on top of this too, as a black streak of Yorkshire pride raced together through
the promenades of France and we all crossed the line together, arms aloft.  Top effort all round.
