Hungry to eat or thirsty to exercise?

The Christmas period usually involves an abundance of the so called ‘Four Fs’ - Festivities, Family, Fun and Food.

From chocolates at the office, to mince pies at home; from hot chocolate in front of Home Alone to some more chocolate after a roast, food takes centre stage; and rightly so!

With January and the new year around the corner, there’s no better time to enjoy the great outdoors and all the benefits that come along with being in the fresh air.

Being outside is the perfect place to enjoy the company of your family and forget about the distractions of modern day technology. Play old favourites like hide and seek in the park, I spy in the forest or count the number of yellow cars as you walk down the road.

Getting out into the fresh air provides some well needed time to reflect, think or simply stimulate the mind. You can walk alone with music or chat with friends, but most importantly you are making the most of everything being outside has to offer.

Laughing works your core muscles, which are vital in feeling fit and healthy. And more importantly, whatever activity it is that makes you laugh will make you want to do the activity again!

Post Christmas, everyone has bitten off more than they can chew – quite literally. Feel festive and importantly feel yourself. Enjoy being outside without feeling the pressure of strenuous exercise.
