The Walking Bus scheme
Be Green, Get Healthy and Walk to School with Regatta
Regatta currently supports a number of local schools, Walking Bus Schemes. We are now looking to expand the programme across the UK and encourage more children to walk to school.
A Walking Bus encourages children to walk to and from school safely, meeting at designated bus stops, all with the help of adult volunteers. The scheme is extremely popular as it helps to encourage parents to leave their car at home, which helps to ease congestion and provides a great form of exercise.
Attached, in association with the Trafford Council are guidelines to download which help advise schools on how to set up a walking bus scheme. In addition to the guidelines, Regatta will support all schools interested in setting up a scheme, or any school already running a scheme but want to sign up by providing:
For the School
- Free Regatta branded high-vis vests for all children who take part in the walking bus, reducing the costs involved in setting up the scheme.
For the Children
- Initial welcome pack, which includes walking bus gifts.
- Regular competition for frequent users of the Walking Bus, with chances to win prizes for the whole family.
